About

Grace Martin is a Master of Arts student in History at Florida State University and a recipient of the Dorothy P. Johnsen and Margaret A. Johnsen Master's Fellowship in American History. She also earned her Bachelor of Arts in History from Florida State University in May 2026. Her research interests include early United States, women and gender, and historical memory. As an undergraduate, she completed an honors thesis titled "Affectionately Yours: Gendered Differences in the Epistolary World of Abigail Adams, 1744-1789," which examined more than 900 letters from the Adams Family Papers to explore how Abigail Adams used correspondence to navigate gendered limitations and engage in intellectual and political life. Through her studies and professional experiences, Grace has become especially interested in how museums and nonprofit organizations impactfully connect communities with history. She has over two years of event planning and fundraising experience across multiple organizations, including Kappa Kappa Gamma, National Geographic Society, and the Smithsonian American Women's History Museum. Grace plans to continue working with museums and nonprofits, helping connect diverse audiences with history and demonstrating its relevance to contemporary life. Through this work, she hopes to foster a deeper public appreciation for the past — one that empowers future generations to think critically, engage empathetically, and recognize their own place in the ongoing American story.
