Ben Dodds has worked on the impact of the Black Death and the way in which the medieval pandemic has been remembered in popular culture in more recent times. These issues are explored in Dodds' 2007 book Peasants and Production, his 2022 book Myths and Memories of the Black Death and in his on-going work.
Dodds also works on stories about bandits and what they reveal about the communities in which they circulated. He is particularly interested in nineteenth- and twentieth-century Spain and the rich tradition of bandit stories which circulated there.
Ben teaches classes on the middle ages and on modern Spain.
